Event date: 22 May 2019
Chamber members enjoyed an al fresco lunch at Deloitte SA’s Woodmead offices this past Wednesday along with a panel discussion on Zimbabwe’s economic and investment outlook, following so much recent change.
Chamber member Dr Rutendo Hwindingwi from Deloitte – who was also a panelist – had this to say following the event:
“Zimbabwe is always a difficult topic to discuss at any event. Firstly because of the socio-political and economic challenges it is currently facing and secondly as it is my country of birth , the issues tend to resonate more personally with me than other countries.
I gave the opening remarks and participated in the panel facilitated today by the British Chamber of Business in Southern Africa and co-hosted with Deloitte in Johannesburg. It was a lively discussion led by Leon Ayo (President of BritCham) the topic being Zimbabwe: Business, Economics and Trade – what next?
The panel had a good representation of both private and public entities operating in Zimbabwe including H.E Ambassador David Hamadziripi(Zimbabwe) and Tom Hill (UK Head of Trade to Zimbabwe). Also amongst the audience was Ben Magara(CEO of Lonmin).
One of the key ‘nuggets’ that came out of the discussion was that for any entity wanting to invest in Zimbabwe you have to plan to be in it for the ‘long game’.
Thank you Leon and team for hosting such a successful event.”
Don’t miss the next Chamber event for more insigthful discussions and valuable networking opportunitites! Thanks to all our members and guest who attended and especially to Deloitte for hosting.
