Nov-2019: Members Luncheon – Update on the fight against HIV/AIDS

Event date: 05 November 2019

Three decades into the epidemic HIV/AIDS is still a global public health challenge. Today almost 8 million South Africans are living with HIV/AIDS. There is a good chance that a sizeable number of your employees are struggling with the disease. In 2018 there were 249,000 new infections, 682 per day. 20% of people between the ages of 15-49 years old are infected. Close to 5 million people are on ARV treatment.

The good news is that with its community-centred approach, MSF’s project, aptly called ‘Bending the Curves’, has shown that it is possible to achieve amazing results. MSF believes that South African businesses have a responsibility towards their employees to help them stay healthy. How? Let’s talk!

On our panel will be:
Dr. Vinayak Bhardwaj, MSF  – Country Director for South Africa
Ms Florence Anam, MSF –  HIV/TB Advocacy Coordinator – Africa region
Mr Leon Ayo, President, British Chamber of Business in Southern Africa
Discovery Health panelist – to be confirmed.

Join us for an interesting discussion on the role of business in the fight against HIV.
